Privacy Notice

How information may be handled when readers visit this website, contact the press or use future publishing services.

Draft for launch review · 17 September 2026

1. Scope

This notice applies to the Indie Horizon Press website and communications made through official channels identified on it. It does not govern third-party libraries, booksellers, archives, social platforms or institutional websites reached through external links.

2. Information that may be collected

  • Information voluntarily supplied in an enquiry, permissions request or submission.
  • Basic technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate region, referring page, pages visited and security logs.
  • Cookie or similar technology data used for essential operation, preferences, security and, if enabled, audience measurement.
  • Transaction information processed by an authorised bookseller or payment provider; the press does not intend to store complete payment-card details on this website.

3. Purposes

Information may be used to operate and secure the website, answer enquiries, administer publishing relationships, review rights requests, maintain records, improve accessibility and content, comply with law and protect legitimate interests. Marketing messages will require an appropriate lawful basis and an available opt-out.

4. Hosting and service providers

The site is built with WordPress and hosted through GoDaddy services. Hosting, security, backup, analytics, forms, email or distribution providers may process limited information on behalf of the press under their own infrastructure and contractual terms. The final launch review will identify any additional active services and cookies.

5. External links

Catalogue pages link to libraries, archives, museums, public bodies, publishers and booksellers. Following a link transfers the visitor to that organisation, whose privacy practices and terms then apply. A link does not imply control or endorsement.

6. Retention and security

Information should be retained only for as long as reasonably required for the relevant publishing, legal, financial, archival or security purpose. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

7. International processing

Readers, authors, providers and repositories may be located in different countries. Where information is transferred internationally, applicable contractual, legal and technical protections should be considered. Privacy rights differ by jurisdiction.

8. Children

The website is intended for a general reading audience and is not designed to collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian should make any enquiry concerning a child or young contributor.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on location and applicable law, a person may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a copy of personal information. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed. Some records may be retained where law or legitimate publishing obligations require it.

10. Contact and updates

Privacy enquiries and requests may be sent to privacy@indiehorizonpress.com. Please state the nature of the request and the relevant interaction with the press; identity may need to be verified before personal information is disclosed or changed. This notice may be updated when the site introduces forms, analytics, newsletters, commerce or new providers, and the review date will be shown on the page.

Pre-launch status: the site remains in Coming Soon mode. No public submission form, newsletter registration or direct online checkout is presently active.

11. Cookies, analytics and mailing lists

Essential technical storage may be used to operate, secure and remember basic website settings. If audience analytics, embedded media, newsletter registration or personalised communications are introduced, the notice and any consent controls will be updated before those functions are relied upon. Marketing email will not be treated as authorised merely because a person contacted the press for another purpose, and every applicable mailing will provide a practical way to stop future messages.

12. Questions, complaints and review

A privacy concern should first be sent to privacy@indiehorizonpress.com with enough detail to identify the interaction and requested outcome. The press will assess the concern, preserve relevant records and respond as reasonably practicable. Where Australian privacy law applies, information about privacy rights and complaint pathways is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Other jurisdictions may provide additional rights or regulators.

Launch review. Before any public form, analytics service, newsletter or checkout is enabled, the actual data flow, vendors, retention settings, consent controls and cross-border processing arrangements should be documented and reflected here.

This general notice is prepared for launch planning and should receive jurisdiction-specific legal review before public release. It is not legal advice and does not limit rights provided by applicable law.
